Welcome to the Public Health Nutrition for the 21st Century Training Site Diet/nutrition to prevent chronic disease, iron deficiency anemia, and obesity are among the top health concerns in the nation today. Given the complex issues that now face public health care workers, such as pervasive obesity, diet-related disease, and emergency preparedness (food security), it is important that the knowledge and skills of health and related professionals be kept current through the transfer of evidence-based research findings, practice skills, and program planning and assessment. Public Health Nutrition for the 21st Century provides an introduction to the meaning, scope, and applications of nutrition to public health practice, placing particular emphasis on addressing Healthy People 2010 objectives relevant to MCH and nutrition. We have created 6 online training modules to address barriers public health professionals encounter when interested in acquiring skills for linking nutrition research to action.
